Impossible Blue Studios features the artwork of Rachelle Olsen-Veal. Born in UT, Rachelle lived most of her childhood in Flagstaff, AZ. More recently, she has been living in the greater Phoenix area. Although she is a classically trained musician, her skill in the visual arts is nearly entirely self-developed. Her style is heavily influenced by her synesthesia, a neurological trait in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color. Color, sound, time, location, memory, and tactile experiences are intermingled, both in her mind and in the art she so passionately produces. She works with acrylics and mixed media, wood sculpture, costume design and sewing, (tailoring and quilting). Her latest projects are large scale wood sculptures, which incorporate more of her body, mind, and soul and afford her greater freedom for multi-dimensionsal exploration and expression.
Rachelle’s works have been featured in several exhibitions and galleries, including the Herberger Theater Art Gallery, The Firehouse Gallery, Lotus Contemporary Art, and the Phoenix Festival of the Arts. She has provided multiple covers for Microfiction Monday Magazine and her presentation “Magenta in the Key of G” was featured at Ignite Phoenix #16.
